Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem are currently filming scenes for their upcoming Formula 1 racing movie at the Rolex 24 event. The actors have been spotted working at Florida’s Daytona International Speedway, where they have been filming for a couple of weeks. They will continue shooting scenes throughout the race over the weekend.

The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) president, John Doonan, expressed his excitement about hosting Pitt and Bardem for the movie. He praised the filmmakers’ dedication to authenticity, mentioning that they even filmed until 2 in the morning on a previous night.

While filming takes place during the race, neither Bardem nor Pitt will be behind the wheel. Professional race car drivers Adam Adelson, Elliott Skeer, Jan Heylen, and Fred Makowiecki will be in control of the Porsche 911 GT3 covered in shades of blue with green accents. They will be competing in the Rolex 24 for Wright Motorsports.

The use of real race footage will contribute to making the film feel as real as possible. Doonan expressed his approval of the filmmakers’ commitment to authenticity, even though he didn’t personally approve the paint scheme for the car.

Filming scenes at racing events is not new for Pitt. Last July, he was spotted filming at the British Grand Prix with Damson Idris. Pitt revealed that he plays a fictional driver named Sonny Hayes in the film, who teams up with Bardem’s character to turn around a struggling team.

The untitled film, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, does not have an official title or release date. However, it does have the support of seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, who is also a producer on the project.

Pitt expressed his respect for the sport of racing and the athleticism required to be a driver. He commended the aggression and dexterity displayed by the drivers.

The film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on “Top Gun: Maverick.” Pitt mentioned that Kosinski’s experience with filming at high speeds will add a unique touch to the movie.

Last year, Bruckheimer praised Pitt’s skills behind the wheel, mentioning that he does his own stunts and that the drivers are amazed at how good he is.

Overall, the Formula 1 racing movie starring Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem aims to bring authenticity to the screen by filming actual race scenes and showcasing the athleticism of the sport.
