A judge has canceled the scheduled divorce proceedings for Fulton County special prosecutor Nathan Wade and his estranged wife Jocelyn Wade after the couple reached a temporary agreement. This agreement means that testimony regarding Wade’s alleged relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis will not be heard at this time. Wade is one of the attorneys prosecuting former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants under RICO charges for election interference in Georgia’s 2020 presidential election. Willis had hired Wade to work on the case.

The divorce case gained national attention when attorneys for Trump co-defendant Michael Roman alleged in a filing that Wade was involved in a romantic relationship with Willis. Roman is seeking to dismiss the charges against him, claiming that both Willis and Wade financially benefited from their arrangement. Last week, Trump’s lawyers and co-defendant Bob Cheeley joined Roman’s effort to disqualify Willis from the election interference case, citing a conflict of interest due to her alleged relationship with Wade.

In a recent filing in the divorce proceedings, Jocelyn Wade submitted an exhibit showing the spending history of a credit card used by her husband. The document revealed bookings for flights between San Francisco and Miami for Nathan Wade and Willis.

Judge Henry R. Thompson released an order stating that the parties have reached an agreement on all currently presented issues, deeming the agreement appropriate. The terms of the agreement will remain private as the couple agreed not to file it with the court.

Jocelyn Wade’s attorney, Andrea Hastings, stated that the temporary agreement resolves the issues of Temporary Alimony and Attorney’s Fees but does not settle the case entirely. They will continue working towards a resolution, whether through settlement or trial. Nathan Wade and his attorney, Scott Kimbrough, have declined to comment.

Willis was subpoenaed to be deposed in the divorce proceedings but fought against it. Judge Thompson had delayed ruling on whether Willis should testify until after Nathan Wade was deposed, which may not happen due to the temporary agreement.

While Willis is no longer required to testify in the divorce proceedings, the judge overseeing the Trump election interference case is still awaiting her response to the filings made by Trump, Cheeley, and Roman. The Fulton County district attorney’s office has not commented on the allegations, stating that they will respond in court filings by the given deadline of February 2.
