Authorities in Indianapolis are investigating two murders that occurred within days of each other in the same area last week. While there is no direct evidence linking the two killings, the Indianapolis Police Department acknowledges that there are “a number of commonalities” between the cases. Both victims were White women in their 50s who were killed in the same manner. Additionally, their bodies were found on the same road, and they had ties to the city’s far east side.

The police have not disclosed details about how the women were killed, nor have they identified any suspects. They are appealing to the community for any information that may be connected to either case. The Acting Police Chief, Chris Bailey, urges anyone with relevant information to come forward to help further the investigation.

The first victim, Shannon Lassere, was discovered dead on January 27 in a dentist’s office parking lot on the east side of Indianapolis. Just days later, on February 1, the second victim, Marianne Weis, was found dead behind a nearby strip mall. The community is finding it strange that two different people were murdered in similar circumstances on separate days.

In response to the murders, the Indianapolis police have increased officers’ presence in the area to ensure public safety and prevent further violence. More uniformed officers will patrol the area, both on foot and in vehicles. Detectives will also be conducting investigations in the coming days, alongside the homicide unit.

The police department is working with a forensic services agency to gather meaningful evidence from the crime scenes. They are also requesting that individuals in the vicinity review their private surveillance footage to check for any suspicious or unusual activity. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are hopeful that community assistance will provide crucial information to advance the case.
