Gang of 20 Loots Bay Area Jewelry Store in Daylight Heist

Additional Coverage:

Newly released surveillance video captures the moment a group of approximately 20 individuals brazenly targeted a jewelry store in the Bay Area, conducting their heist in the light of day. The event quickly spiraled into a police chase that concluded with several arrests.

The video reveals the moment the squad, fully attired in tactical gear, stormed PNG Jewelers in Sunnyvale, CA, this past Wednesday. Armed with hammers and other instruments, the group rapidly broke into the display cases and seized a significant amount of jewelry before fleeing the scene.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety has revealed that the culprits fled in several vehicles just before law enforcement officers arrived on the scene. Fortuitously, officers spotted two of the getaway vehicles shortly after.

Despite efforts to evade capture, law enforcement engaged in a pursuit of both vehicles. Although they lost track of one vehicle, officers observed stolen jewelry being discarded from the window of the other.

Ultimately, the suspects in one vehicle decided to abandon their ride and attempted to flee on foot across a freeway into an industrial zone. However, law enforcement managed to apprehend five of the suspects.

These individuals have now been detained in the Santa Clara County Jail, facing a range of charges that include armed robbery, burglary, vandalism, resisting arrest, and vehicle evasion.

While the full value of the stolen items has yet to be determined, authorities have successfully recovered some of the stolen jewelry. The investigation is currently ongoing.
