Kevin Bacon Makes Surprising Discovery About Wife Kyra Sedgwick Through News

Kevin Bacon remains deeply in love with his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, and even finds out new things about her from the media rather than from her directly. In a candid moment with Us Weekly in New York City during the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony on June 13, Bacon, aged 65, shared a surprising discovery.

“I read an article where Kyra mentioned feeling jealous of me during the time I acted in Beauty Shop with Queen Latifah. That was a first,” Bacon revealed.

Beauty Shop, a 2005 comedy, centers around Gina (played by Latifah) who moves to Atlanta, Georgia, with her daughter (Paige Hurd) to escape her disreputable boss, Jorge (played by Bacon), and eventually strives to establish her own salon despite Jorge’s attempts to thwart her. Bacon expressed his unawareness of Sedgwick’s jealousy regarding this role but appreciated the continuous discovery of new aspects of her personality. He has chosen not to confront her about these feelings, emphasizing his belief in her right to her own emotions.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have a long history of both personal and professional collaboration. Since their romance sparked in the late 1970s on the set of the PBS movie Lemon Sky and their subsequent marriage in 1989, they have appeared together in several projects, including Murder in the First, The Woodsman, and Cavedweller.

Their collaboration extended behind the camera as well, with Bacon directing Sedgwick in 2005’s Loverboy and Sedgwick directing Bacon in Story of a Girl (2017) and Space Oddity (2022). Sedgwick even made a vocal cameo in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, in which Bacon starred as himself.

Bacon and Sedgwick, parents to Travis, 34, and Sosie, 32, also maintain a lively and romantic relationship. Sedgwick openly confirmed on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that their passion extends to movie set trailers, humorously warning, “If the trailer’s rockin’, don’t come a-knockin’.”

In January, it was announced that the couple would reunite on screen for the first time in two decades in the upcoming comedy Connescence, directed by Michael J. Weithorn, which has them both excited for this new venture. Despite their enduring love, Bacon admitted in a September 2023 appearance on the Today show that like any couple, they have their disagreements, particularly over the car thermostat, a small detail in a comprehensive and loving partnership.
