Daniel Radcliffe, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Paulson Dominates at Tony Awards

On June 16, the Tony Awards celebrated outstanding achievements on Broadway, with “The Outsiders” capturing the Best Musical title at the ceremony held at the David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center in New York.

High-profile actors such as Daniel Radcliffe, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Paulson, and Jonathan Groff were among the evening’s winners, each taking home Tony Awards for their exceptional performances. Daniel Radcliffe earned the Best Supporting Actor in a Musical award for his role in “Merrily We Roll Along,” a production that also saw Groff winning Best Lead Actor in a Musical and received awards for Best Revival of a Musical and Best Orchestrations.

Jeremy Strong, known for his role in “Succession,” was honored with the Best Lead Actor in a Play for his performance in “Enemy of the People.” Sarah Paulson was recognized as the Best Lead Actress in a Play for “Appropriate,” a play that also took home awards for Best Revival of a Play and Best Lighting Design of a Play.

Another winner of the night was “Stereophonic,” capturing several awards including Best Play and awards for its direction and sound design. The musical “Hell’s Kitchen” also shone, with Maleah Joi Moon and Kecia Lewis winning the Best Lead Actress and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical awards, respectively.

Kara Young was awarded Best Supporting Actress in a Play for “Purlie Victorious,” while “Suffs” was celebrated for its Best Book of a Musical and Best Score, and “Illinoise” won for Best Choreography. “The Outsiders” also secured awards for Best Director of a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Musical, and Best Lighting Design of a Musical, highlighting a successful night for the production.

The event, which aired on CBS and was available for streaming on Paramount+, was hosted for the third year in a row by Ariana DeBose, an Oscar-winning actress from “West Side Story.” “Stereophonic” and “Hell’s Kitchen” led the nominations with 13 each, followed by “The Outsiders” with 12. “Merrily We Roll Along” and “Water for Elephants” were both contenders for seven awards, showcasing the diverse talent and productions Broadway has to offer.
