“Real World” Alum Sarah Becker Passes Away at 52

Sarah Becker, known for her time on MTV’s “The Real World,” has tragically ended her own life, sources close to the family revealed to TMZ. She passed away at her Illinois residence last week, where she had been living to provide care for her family since last year. Despite her intentions to return to California, recent months saw her grappling with mental health issues, exacerbated by the responsibility of caring for her sick mother and sister and a skateboarding accident.

Becker first caught the public’s eye on the fifth season of “The Real World,” which aired in 1996 and took place in Miami. At 25 years old, the La Jolla, California native was working in the comic book industry.

She left a memorable mark on the show, notably when she brought a puppy home during the season’s thirteenth episode. Her season was also the first in the series to assign the cast a season-long task which involved launching a business with a starting capital of $50,000, a venture that ultimately failed due to team conflicts and lack of organization.

Sarah Becker is remembered by her family as a kind-hearted individual who always put the needs of others before her own, often to her own detriment. She was 52 years old at the time of her passing.
