In Chattanooga, Tennessee, a distressing incident unfolded on Monday near a local shopping mall when a suspect died following reports of an armed individual inside an office building. The Chattanooga Police were alerted to the situation just after 2 p.m.

Sergeant Victor Miller of the Chattanooga Police Department addressed the media, stating, “There was an individual in the building who attempted to carry out a certain plan, which ultimately did not succeed.” Miller further explained that the individual had taken his own life and was found deceased by the authorities.

Thankfully, no other injuries were reported in the incident, though it was not immediately clear if additional shots had been fired beyond those that led to the gunman’s death. Details about the shooter’s intentions remain scant as the investigation is ongoing.

The event prompted a swift response, locking down businesses in the vicinity, including the Hamilton Place shopping mall. Residents were urged to steer clear of the area during the afternoon. The situation was resolved in about an hour and a half when the police confirmed the suspect had been detained, and normalcy began to return as lockdowns were lifted and businesses reopened.
