An explosion rocked a home in Lafayette, Wisconsin, on Tuesday afternoon, causing significant damage, local authorities reported.

Elkhorn Fire Chief Trent Eichmann confirmed that a man who was inside the home at the time of the blast was critically injured and subsequently airlifted to a hospital for treatment. The rescue team faced challenges as it took them about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the man, who was found in the house’s basement.

The identity and current medical condition of the injured man are still unknown. Walworth County Sheriff Dave Gerber noted that according to relatives, the man was alone in the home when the explosion occurred.
