<p>Joan Benedict, beloved actress known for her roles in “General Hospital” and “Candid Camera,” has passed away.</p>
<p>A representative for the family stated on Monday that Joan, the widow of famed actor Rod Steiger, succumbed to complications from a stroke on June 24 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.</p>

Joan’s illustrious career began in the 1950s on “Candid Camera,” where she famously tickled unsuspecting men with a feathered hat. Over the decades, she graced various television shows, including “The Steve Allen Show” and “Apple’s Way,” and had recurring roles in “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives.” She also appeared in movies like “The Prize Fighter.”

Her recent work included the 2006 film “The Theory of Everything” and the 2009 TV series “Dollhouse.”

On a personal note, Joan was first married to actor John Myhers from 1962 until he passed away in 1992. She later married Oscar-winning actor Rod Steiger in 2000, a union that lasted until his death in 2002.

Joan Benedict was 96 years old.
