Shannen Doherty Files for Divorce, Ends Alimony a Day Before Passing

Additional Coverage:

Shannen Doherty filed for divorce from Kurt Iswarienko the day before she passed away. Documents were lodged on Friday, July 12, confirming that their divorce was moving forward without contest. The documents revealed that Doherty had renounced her right to spousal support, insisting on forfeiting any such claims permanently.

The dissolution of their marriage, which they requested be unchallenged by the court regarding any support, marked a resolution to an already strained relationship following their separation. The issue of spousal support had been a significant source of disagreement.

Doherty originally sought legal separation from Iswarienko in April 2023 after 11 years together, during which Doherty’s representative, Leslie Sloane, suggested that Iswarienko’s agent played a significant role in their split. “Divorce was the last thing Shannen wanted,” said Sloane. “Unfortunately, she felt she had no other option.”

According to records, the couple had parted ways in January 2023 amidst Doherty’s ongoing battle with breast cancer. Diagnosed in 2015, Doherty went into remission after two years of treatment but disclosed in 2020 that her cancer had advanced to stage IV, later spreading to her bones.

Us Weekly reported Doherty’s death on Sunday, July 14, at age 53. Prior to her demise, Doherty accused Iswarienko of stalling the divorce proceedings, hoping she would not live to see them through. She had previously asked for a monthly spousane support of $15,343 starting June 1, 2024.

Doherty had also accused Iswarienko of engaging in a two-year affair with his agent, Collier Grimm. Reflecting on her relationship in her podcast “Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty” in December 2023, she expressed heartbreak over the betrayal after a 14-year relationship. While acknowledging the impact of her illness on the marriage, Doherty ultimately held Iswarienko responsible for their split.

Despite her third marriage ending unfavorably, Doherty continued to believe in love, though she regretted not being able to maintain her relationships. Iswarienko’s attorney denied any malicious intentions on his client’s part, stating that Iswarienko hoped for a resolution that would allow both parties to move forward. Iswarienko himself has yet to publicly respond to the allegations of unfaithfulness.
