Judge in Young Thug’s YSL RICO Case Replaced After Six Months

Additional Coverage:

In the YSL RICO trial involving Young Thug, Superior Court Judge Rachel Krause of Georgia has removed Judge Ural Glanville from the case after accepting several motions from Young Thug and his co-defendants. This decision arose following months of contention in court proceedings.

Even though Judge Krause acknowledged Judge Glanville’s capacity to oversee the trial impartially, the trial has been reassigned in order to maintain public trust in the judiciary.

The controversy intensified in the courtroom when Young Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, accused Judge Glanville of having an undisclosed meeting with prosecutors and state witness Kenneth “YSL Woody” Copeland, alleging this was conducted without his knowledge and was unfair to his client. Further complicating matters, the prosecution was aware that another defendant, referred to as Lil Woody, would invoke his Fifth Amendment right in front of the jury, leading to a request for a mistrial on these grounds.

Deamonte Kendrick’s lawyer, Doug Weinstein, welcomed the decision to reassign the judge, citing concerns over Judge Glanville’s perceived bias against his client and the other defendants. Weinstein expressed optimism about proceeding with a more impartial judge leading to a fair trial outcome.

Young Thug’s case will now continue under Judge Shukura L. Ingram, as public and legal attention on this high-profile matter persists.
