In Arlington, Texas, country singer Cody Johnson delivered a flawless rendition of the national anthem at the All-Star Game, held at the Texas Rangers’ ballpark. This performance came on the heels of a controversial rendition by singer Ingris Andress the previous night, which ended in her apologizing for being intoxicated.

Dressed in a white cowboy hat and cream blazer, the 37-year-old Johnson approached the microphone, positioned between the pitcher’s mound and home plate. He respectfully removed his hat just as he began to sing, periodically raising it in his right hand throughout his performance.

Johnson, who had previously thrown the ceremonial first pitch at Globe Life Field earlier in the season, found his anthem performance garnering extra attention due to the preceding night’s incident involving Andress. Andress, who sang before the Home Run Derby, took to Instagram to apologize and announce her plan to seek rehabilitation.

Before Johnson’s anthem, Canadian duo Nice Horse, featuring Katie Despite the setback the night before, the anthem performances by both Johnson and the Canadian duo Nice Horse—comprising Katie Rox and Brandi Sidoryk—went off without a hitch.

Johnson is set to return to the Rangers’ stadium for a performance in November.
