Venus Williams is embracing a vibrant new look, choosing to go blonde and loving every moment of it. At 44 years old, she recently spoke with Us Weekly about her venture into golden hair tones, attributing her daring change to her latest collaboration with Schwarzkorp Professional for the Up Your Game campaign.

“I was hesitant at first, unsure if I could pull off such a bright shade against my red skin undertones,” Venus confessed to Us Weekly. However, once the transformation was complete, she was overjoyed by the resemblance it bore to her younger sister, Serena Williams.

“I was thrilled! It made me think of Serena,” she remarked.

The tennis icon’s hair transformation was skillfully crafted by celebrity hairstylist Brendnetta Ashley, who employed Schwarzkopf’s Blondme lightener and Igora Vibrance to achieve the look. Ashley also styled Venus’s hair into elegant curls using the OSiS+ Elastic Light Hold Hairspray, adding a glamorous touch to the complete makeover.

Through her partnership with Schwarzkopf, Venus has been able to explore and push the boundaries of hairstyling further. “It opened up so many possibilities for me, ways to be bold that I hadn’t thought to try before,” she expressed.

Not only is this the first time Venus has gone blonde, but it’s also a jump into a style that aligns perfectly with current trends. According to Ashley, she and Venus aimed for a fresh, unprecedented look that also worked harmoniously with her complexion.

Venus shared her enthusiasm for self-expression through varied hairstyles, noting, “It’s a way to show who you are, your mood, or even your personality.” Over the years, she’s no stranger to changing her hairstyle, having previously sported an ice pink ombre look and various braided styles during her athletic career.

Reflecting on past hairstyles, Venus reminisced about the iconic braided beads she and Serena wore on the tennis court back in 1997, a look she regards as youthful and adaptable for more sophisticated renditions in adulthood.

Recently sticking to her natural brunette, Venus revealed plans to return to her beloved blonde on July 18. “I just have more fun as a blonde,” she admitted, looking forward to yet another stint with lighter locks.
