Kamala Harris Pledges to End Project 2025 If Elected

Additional Coverage:

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has pledged to dismantle the controversial Project 2025, following President Joe Biden’s endorsement of her for the Democratic nomination.

Project 2025 is a strategy devised by the conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, outlining aggressive conservative reforms for the next Republican president’s agenda. Despite its bold proposals, former President Donald Trump has openly criticized the project, labeling it as “ridiculous” and dissociating himself from it.

Project 2025 is depicted as a comprehensive 922-page strategy aimed to integrate radical conservative policies into law while potentially undermining the checks and balances of the U.S. government. Key proposals within the project include abolishing the Department of Education, restricting the FBI’s role in combating misinformation and disinformation, and reversing policies adversarial to fossil fuels.

Despite its association with Trump by critics, the Heritage Foundation affirms that the execution of many goals outlined in Project 2025 could proceed without presidential involvement, relying instead on local and state government actions. Furthermore, although Trump has distanced himself from the initiative, claiming ignorance about its content, the Heritage Foundation was a prominent sponsor at the Republican National Convention that renominated him.

In her aggressive stance against Project 2025, Harris took to social media, stating her commitment to unify the Democratic Party and the nation to defeat Trump and his extreme agenda. She also used this platform to appeal for donations to support her campaign.

The announcement came shortly after Biden decided to withdraw from the presidential race, citing the benefit to the party and the country to focus on his presidential duties for the rest of his term. This decision followed persistent urging from leading Democrats concerned about the potential election outcome.

In response to Harris’s assertions, Trump’s spokesman Steven Cheung criticized her agenda as radical and out of touch, accusing her of being lenient on crime and antagonistic toward American energy production and employment.

Requests for comments from Harris’s representatives were not immediately returned to inquiries from Business Insider.
