The U.S. gymnastics team has landed in Paris as the 2024 Paris Olympics rapidly approach. The “City of Love” now hosts these elite athletes ahead of the renowned international competition that occurs every four years.

Originating over 3,000 years ago in the Peloponnese region of Ancient Greece, the Olympic Games were historically held in Olympia every four years, according to the official Olympic website. This longstanding sporting event has highlighted celebrated athletes such as Michael Phelps, Naomi Osaka, and Usain Bolt, among others.

Simone Biles recently shared a sneak peek of the team’s recent practice on social media, showing team members dressed in American flag-themed outfits. The 27-year-old gold medalist adorned the post with three French flag emojis, and her teammates have also circulated the photos across their own networks.

The team is gearing up for competition starting on July 26, which marks the beginning of the Olympic events this year. This update follows remarks from former gymnast MyKayla Skinner, which have since been retracted.

In a deleted YouTube video, Skinner remarked that aside from Biles, the current gymnasts lack past teams’ talent and work ethic. Skinner later clarified that her comments were more reflective of her experiences and observations about changing training attitudes rather than the current team’s capabilities, expressing her support and pride for the athletes on Instagram Stories.

Gabby Douglas, who had to bow out of this year’s Olympics due to an ankle injury, discussed the importance of accommodating different athlete’s needs and responses to training environments in an interview with E! News. She emphasized the necessity of adapting athletic training to suit individual capabilities and conditions.
