The beloved cast of “Charmed” dedicated a special episode of their podcast “House of Halliwell” to Shannen Doherty, who recently passed away at the age of 53. Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, and Drew Fuller gathered to honor the memory of Doherty, who portrayed Prue Halliwell on the show.

This tribute episode aired on Monday, July 22, shortly after Doherty’s death on July 13. She had joined the podcast as a co-host shortly before her passing.

Brian Krause expressed his feelings during the podcast, stating, “This is a tribute to someone we all love very much.” He also acknowledged the difficulty in celebrating the episode as “special” under such sad circumstances.

Holly Marie Combs, visibly emotional, recalled Doherty’s fierce battle with cancer, sharing that Doherty herself had been hopeful despite her severe prognosis. Initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Doherty went into remission in 2017 but faced a setback in 2020 when the cancer returned as stage IV.

During the podcast, Combs reflected on their time together and the plans they had, noting how sudden life can change. “It sounds terribly cliché… until it happens to you, you always think you have more time,” she said, overcome with emotion.

Doherty was thrilled to rejoin her former castmates on the podcast, which was announced on July 8, only a few days before her death. Combs shared that Doherty had become a huge fan of the show, viewing it with fresh enthusiasm and love.

Shannen Doherty originally starred with Combs and Alyssa Milano as the Halliwell sisters in “Charmed,” up until her departure after season three. The show then introduced Rose McGowan as a new sister and continued for five more seasons.

Reflecting on Doherty’s enthusiasm for the reunion with the cast, including watching old episodes, Combs shared a touching memory of their last moments together, likening it to their younger days.

Prior to her passing, Doherty had completed recording five episodes of the podcast. The creators decided to release these episodes posthumously to fulfill Doherty’s wishes and share her last contributions with fans, honoring her memory and enduring love for her role as Prue Halliwell.
