Jennie Garth Shares Fear Following Deaths of 90210 Co-Stars Perry and Doherty

Additional Coverage:

Jennie Garth recently shared her thoughts on the impact of losing her “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-stars Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty during an episode of the “90210MG” podcast with Tori Spelling, aired on July 22. Garth, 52, expressed that the deaths of her co-stars have instilled a sense of fear in her about the unpredictability of life.

Reflecting on the loss, Garth said, “It could be any of us [that] could go at any moment. That kind of feeling…yeah, that’s scary.” While Garth has been grappling with fear, Spelling, 51, said she feels more sadness than fear, especially after Doherty’s recent passing from a prolonged cancer battle at age 53.

On the show, Garth and Spelling portrayed Kelly Taylor and Donna Martin, respectively, sharing the screen with Perry’s Dylan McKay and Doherty’s Brenda Walsh. The series, which was popular throughout the 1990s, also featured Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, and Brian Austin Green.

The ensemble experienced a significant loss when Perry passed away at 52 due to a massive stroke in March 2019. The cast later reunited for the series “BH90210,” where they had the opportunity to reflect on Perry’s sudden death, which Garth said was a moment none of them were truly prepared for.

Discussing Doherty’s passing, Garth revealed it brought back painful emotions, describing it as “shocking” despite knowing her condition, due to Doherty’s resilient nature in fighting the disease. Garth admitted she drew considerable strength and inspiration from Doherty’s spirited fight and outspoken nature.

Looking ahead, both Garth and Spelling expressed a desire to honor Perry and Doherty’s legacies by participating in fan events and providing strength and comfort to each other and their fans, much like they experienced in the past.
