Arizona Woman Pleads Guilty in Fake Elector Scheme

Additional Coverage:

Loraine Pellegrino, one of the individuals labeled as “fake electors” by former President Donald Trump, entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge related to the 2020 Arizona election incident, sources indicated through court documents. Her lawyer mentioned that Pellegrino received a sentence of unsupervised probation and community service.

Initially facing several charges, Pellegrino ultimately pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor of presenting a false document for filing. According to court records, the remaining charges, including allegations of forgery, were dismissed following her plea.

This development closely follows an arrangement secured by another defendant in the same case, Jenna Ellis, a former attorney for Trump, who recently agreed to cooperate with authorities. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes described Ellis’s cooperation as a crucial advancement in the ongoing investigation.

Pellegrino’s attorney issued a statement expressing that her client’s acceptance of a reduced charge was a step towards closing this chapter of her life. The attorney, Joshua Kolsrud, praised Pellegrino for taking full responsibility for her actions, highlighting her commitment to legal obedience and community contribution.

Kolsrud further noted the sentence of unsupervised probation with community service was acknowledgment of her remorse and her efforts at making reparations, commending the Attorney General for acknowledging Pellegrino’s character in the process.

The case, led by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, initially brought charges in April against several of Trump’s current and former aides, accusing them of attempting to reverse the 2020 election outcomes. Additional charges were brought against 11 alleged fake electors, including accusations of fraud, forgery, and conspiracy. However, Trump himself has not been charged in this situation.
