In Queens, New York, seven family members were saved from a perilous home invasion. The New York Police Department reported that the family was held hostage by intruders who attacked them.

The distress call was made at around 2 a.m. on Saturday, which prompted immediate police response to their Douglaston home, as reported by WABC, an ABC station in New York. Upon arrival, officers saw a distraught woman fleeing the residence with an infant.

The woman informed the police that three assailants had entered their home and were holding other family members hostage, including elderly individuals aged 72 and 71, two middle-aged adults, and three children, ages 13, 10, and one.

According to authorities, the assailants brandished firearms and hammers, assaulting a 43-year-old man with a hammer and striking a 71-year-old woman in the face. Despite their injuries, both declined medical care.

The perpetrators escaped with stolen cash through a window, but were subsequently captured by police after drones were deployed around the residence to locate them. The motives for the attack remain unclear, and charges against the culprits have yet to be announced.
