Louisville WR Caullin Lacy Out 6-8 Weeks with Broken Collarbone

Additional Coverage:

The Louisville Cardinals’ football season took a hit as wide receiver Caullin Lacy suffered a broken collarbone during the last scrimmage of their fall camp. The school announced that Lacy is expected to be out for six to eight weeks. This setback occurs as the Cardinals aim to improve on last year’s successful 10-win season and ACC Championship appearance under first-year coach Jeff Brohm.

Should Lacy recover in six weeks, he will miss matchups against Austin Peay, Jacksonville State, Georgia Tech, and Notre Dame. An eight-week recovery would also sideline him for games against SMU and Virginia. The team is hopeful that he won’t be out any longer than that.

Lacy, a significant transfer from South Alabama, was anticipated to be a key player in Louisville’s offense this season. During his tenure with the Jaguars, he racked up impressive stats with 91 receptions for 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns last season alone.

Over 47 games, he caught 207 passes totaling 2,517 yards and 13 touchdowns. Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 190 pounds, Lacy was a top prospect in the transfer portal.

Despite Lacy’s absence, the Cardinals have other capable receivers. Chris Bell, who posted 29 receptions for 407 yards and two touchdowns last season, will likely step up. Additionally, the team has added Alabama transfer Ja’Corey Brooks, who despite limited play last year, managed 39 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.
