The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reported that Investigator Taylor Bristow passed away following a critical injury sustained in a shooting that occurred while serving a warrant issued by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Carrollton, roughly 50 miles southwest of Atlanta.

A procession is scheduled for 11 a.m. local time to transport Bristow’s body from Grady Memorial Hospital to the crime laboratory of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further examination, as mentioned by ANF, a CBS affiliate in Atlanta.

The GBI recounted that the suspect, identified as Christopher Bly, who was 40 years old, barricaded himself in the residence and discharged a handgun, resulting in his own death as well as wounding Bristow.
