Harris Campaign Collects $82 Million at DNC, Totaling $540 Million Since Launch

Vice President Kamala Harris has successfully fundraised $82 million during the week of the Democratic National Convention, bringing her campaign’s total to an impressive $540 million since she entered the race last month, according to her campaign. Nearly $40 million of that was collected in the period around her acceptance speech on Thursday, stated campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon. Dillon highlighted that the campaign had surpassed $500 million right before Harris’s speech.

Dillon also pointed out that the hour following Harris’s speech was the most successful single hour of fundraising for the campaign. The funds were jointly raised with the Democratic National Committee and related fundraising groups.

Moreover, the Harris campaign has seen a surge in volunteer engagement, registering almost 200,000 volunteer shifts during the convention week, which is more than any previous week. The two days following the speech saw 90,000 of these sign-ups.

In a campaign memo, Dillon expressed confidence as they prepare for September, boasting a large group of volunteers eager to engage with potential voters. In contrast, she noted that Donald Trump’s campaign appears to lack a robust on-the-ground presence in key battleground states.

Dillon emphasized that the convention energized the Harris and her vice-presidential nominee, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s coalition nationwide, boosting both volunteer and grassroots donor activities. She criticized Trump for not focusing on critical strategies to secure the necessary electoral votes, instead spending time on online rants and alienating pivotal voters.
