RFK Jr. Loses Secret Service Detail Following Campaign Suspension

**Washington** — After ending his third-party presidential campaign, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who last week threw his support behind former President Donald Trump, is no longer receiving Secret Service protection, his campaign announced.

Kennedy’s press secretary, Stefanie Spear, confirmed to CBS News that “Mr. Kennedy no longer has USSS protection.”

During a recent speech in Phoenix, Kennedy explained his decision to endorse Trump, citing a lack of a realistic chance to win the presidency. He stated that he wasn’t completely terminating his campaign but would withdraw from competitive states to avoid being a “spoiler.” Despite suspending his campaign, Kennedy’s name remains on the ballot in over twenty states.

Following an assassination attempt against Trump in July, President Biden had directed that Kennedy be provided with Secret Service protection. Kennedy, whose father and uncle were both assassinated in the 1960s, had been a fervent advocate for such security measures for his independent run.

The law mandates the Secret Service to guard major presidential candidates and their spouses within 120 days of a general election, with other candidates receiving protection as deemed necessary.
