Quentin Tarantino Points Finger at Alec Baldwin for Role in ‘Rust’ Tragedy

Additional Coverage:

In a recent episode of Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino discussed the tragic shooting on the set of the movie “Rust,” suggesting that while Alec Baldwin holds partial responsibility for cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ death, much of the blame should be assigned to the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. According to Tarantino, 90% of the fault lies with Gutierrez-Reed, but actors, he argued, should also verify that their weapons are safe before using them in scenes, a stance that contradicts the position of SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union.

During the podcast, which aired Sunday, Maher criticized the decision to charge Baldwin, labeling it as baseless. The case against Baldwin was subsequently dismissed by a judge in July due to mishandling of crucial evidence by the prosecution.

Following the dismissal, Baldwin has taken legal action against Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey and Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza.

Furthermore, Tarantino and Maher shared their critical views on the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the show.

Efforts to reach Baldwin’s attorney for comment on Tarantino’s remarks have so far been unsuccessful.
