Murder Suspect Arrested After Falling Through Attic Ceiling

Additional Coverage:

Deario Wilkerson, a 20-year-old murder suspect, was apprehended after he accidentally fell through the ceiling during a house search by U.S. Marshals.

The incident occurred as law enforcement officials were closing in on Wilkerson, who had been hiding in the attic of a Tennessee residence. He was wanted in connection with the April 2 murder of Troy Cunningham in Memphis, who died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort by the U.S. Marshals’ Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, alongside teams from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Memphis Police Department. Wilkerson, miraculously unharmed from the fall, was taken into custody without further issues.

Authorities stated that Wilkerson was one of three individuals linked to the fatal shooting, which involved the theft of Cunningham’s firearm used in the crime. Following the incident in May, an arrest warrant was issued for Wilkerson on charges of first-degree murder and reckless endangerment.

The other two suspects connected to the case had already been arrested and charged before Wilkerson’s capture on Monday.
