Breeder Dead, 10 Doberman Puppies Missing

Additional Coverage:

Authorities in Clear Creek County, Colorado, are investigating the homicide of 57-year-old dog breeder Paul Peavey, whose body was discovered after a search party found him deceased last Saturday. Peavey, who had been missing since the evening of August 21, was last heard from two days prior on August 19. His death is being examined by the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

In a related development, up to 10 of Peavey’s Doberman puppies are also missing from his property. The day Peavey’s body was found, the local coroner’s office confirmed his identity and announced plans for an autopsy to ascertain the cause and manner of his death.

The missing puppies are a significant aspect of the ongoing investigation, with authorities suggesting they might have been sold via social media or other channels from August 20 onwards. The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone in central Colorado who has recently purchased a Doberman puppy to check for a microchip and report back. This could help determine if the puppies are those bred by Peavey, who operated under the business name Elite European Dobermans.

The Sheriff’s Office is also reaching out to anyone who has interacted with Peavey’s business since June 2024, seeking information on whether they received their purchased puppies or not. This will assist in tracking how many puppies are unaccounted for.

As the investigation continues, authorities maintain that finding the missing puppies could be key to resolving Peavey’s murder, and they are encouraging the public to come forward with any relevant information. Additional details will be shared by the police as the investigation allows without jeopardizing future court proceedings or the investigation itself.
