4 Dead, 10 Hurt in Texas Rollover Crash

On August 28, a tragic accident occurred in northeastern Texas when a van wrecked and rolled multiple times, resulting in four fatalities and ten injuries. The incident took place shortly after 8 a.m. at the crossroads of U.S. 287 and FM 1655 north of Alvord in Wise County, approximately 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The van, a Chevrolet Express filled nearly to its 15-passenger capacity, was traveling north when it veered off the roadway. The highway patrol reported that the driver attempted to correct the van’s course, but tragically, it led to the vehicle overturning multiple times and ejecting several occupants.

Among the 14 adult passengers, the driver and two others were pronounced dead at the scene, with another succumbing to injuries at a hospital subsequently. Sgt.

Tony De La Cerda of the Texas Highway Patrol noted that multiple passengers were ejected from the van and nearly all sustained injuries. According to reports, only one individual, who happened to be wearing a seatbelt, survived the crash without serious injury.

Emergency response teams airlifted three of the injured to nearby hospitals, while ambulances transported eight others. The northbound lanes of U.S. 287 were closed for several hours as a result of the accident.

The occupants of the van were reportedly traveling from Florida through Texas at the time of the crash. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
