Earlier this month, Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissman, who recently exchanged vows, took to renovating their new Nebraska residence, sharing their progress with fans.
Jana Duggar, 34, famed for her role in “Counting On,” broadcasted a video on YouTube on Thursday, August 29, showcasing their work on a “fixer-upper” project. She unveiled their ambitious plans to overhaul the sizable property.
The house, a substantial two-story structure, comes complete with five bedrooms and bathrooms on each floor. It also boasts a variety of rooms including a living room, dining room, kitchen, basement, and a laundry/utility room.
In terms of remodeling, Duggar disclosed their intention to merge two adjoining bedrooms into a spacious master suite with an ensuite. “We’ll be taking out this coat closet and the garage door here. We plan to combine these two bedrooms into our main bedroom suite,” Jana explained during her walkthrough.
Additional plans involved expanding the bedroom by moving a wall five feet and transforming a smaller room into the primary bathroom. She also mentioned the possibility of converting a large basement area into either a game room or a home theater.
Jana, known from her family’s appearances on reality TV shows “19 Kids and Counting” and “Counting On”, is receiving help with her home improvement project from family. During the demolition phase, her father and her younger sisters, including 17-year-old Jennifer, assisted in tasks like tearing up carpets and removing walls.
Establishing her new home in Stephen Wissman’s native Nebraska, Jana married in Prairie Grove, Arkansas on August 15. Stephen, a pastor and bible study leader in Milford, Nebraska, welcomed Jana to his state, already familiar as his base.
Though they’ve just begun, Jana expressed enthusiasm about their renovation adventure to People, stating, “We’ve bought this little house that we’re fixing up, which has been a fun project so far.”
Their wedding was a true family affair. Jana’s sister Jessa Duggar Seewald, at 31 years old, served as maid of honor, while her other sisters, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, 30, Joy-Anna Forsyth, 26, Johannah Duggar, 18, and Jordyn Duggar, 15, stood as bridesmaids, along with her sister-in-law, Abbie, married to Jana’s twin, John-David Duggar. Their father, 59-year-old Jim Bob, escorted Jana down the aisle.
