Aug. 30 (UPI) — Kamala Harris’s campaign announced a national bus tour focusing on reproductive rights as it heads into the critical final months of the presidential race.

At a campaign event in Savannah, Georgia, where Vice President Kamala Harris spoke on Thursday, the campaign revealed its upcoming “Reproductive Rights Bus Tour” starting next Tuesday. The tour is scheduled to make 50 stops in various locations, including both Democratic and Republican areas.

The tour will set off from Palm Beach County, Florida, not far from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, with the intention to highlight what the Harris campaign sees as Donald Trump’s ongoing threat to reproductive freedoms in the U.S. This includes potential risks to procedures like in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Prominent figures, including Democratic Representatives Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, as well as CNN commentator Ana Navarro, are slated to appear at the inaugural stop. Other notable participants joining the campaign circuit include Harris’s campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Gwen Walz, spouse of Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz.

“Our campaign is eager to engage directly with voters across the nation, emphasize what’s at stake regarding reproductive rights, and contrast our vision with the retrogressive proposals of Donald Trump,” Rodriguez remarked to The Hill.

Earlier this year, Harris embarked on a similar advocacy tour addressing reproductive rights, which started in Wisconsin and included stops like Arizona following a Supreme Court decision that reinstated a near-total ban on abortions dating back to 1864. This was prior to President Joe Biden stepping back from the 2024 presidential race and endorsing Harris as a candidate.
