Colorado Governor Jared Polis, a Democrat and supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris, recently addressed the criticisms from Republicans regarding Harris’ differing stances since her 2020 campaign. In an interview on “This Week” with co-anchor Jonathan Karl, Polis highlighted that Harris’ ability to modify her positions on issues such as fracking, the border wall, and health care, reflects her adaptability and pragmatic leadership.
Polis remarked, “A good leader learns and evolves over time. It doesn’t matter whether the shift is to the middle, left, or right; what matters is effectiveness. Kamala Harris bases her decisions on data and science to make the best choices possible.”
Discussing the political spectrum within the Democratic party, Polis mentioned that the party encompasses a range of views from conservative to liberal. He supported Harris’ commitment to leading inclusively, stating, “Kamala Harris has pledged to be a president for all Americans, which means she respects and considers all viewpoints.”

Though Harris previously criticized President Donald Trump’s border wall as a “medieval vanity project,” she now supports a bipartisan bill on border security, which proposes spending on barriers, though significantly less than what was previously sought by Trump. Polis clarified that the type of border security Harris endorses involves a variety of cost-effective measures, not just physical walls, but also technology and intelligence to secure the border efficiently.
