On Saturday, a tragic bus accident on Interstate 20 near Bovina, Mississippi resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and injuries to 37 others. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is actively investigating the crash, which involved a 2018 Volvo commercial bus operating on a route from Atlanta to Dallas.

The accident took place early in the day, east of Vicksburg in Warren County, when the bus reportedly veered off the road and overturned. The Mississippi Highway Patrol, collaborating with the NTSB, identified faulty tires as a probable cause of the mishap.

The NTSB released a statement via the social media platform X, announcing that it had dispatched a special investigation crew to the site, tasked with examining the circumstances of this severe incident. The statement highlighted tire failure as a key factor contributing to the crash.

Among those who lost their lives were a 6-year-old boy and his 16-year-old sister. A total of 43 people, including 41 passengers and two drivers, were aboard the bus at the time of the accident.

The bus was operated by Autobuses Regiomontanos, a company with offices in Laredo, Texas known for its extensive experience in coordinating cross-border journeys between the United States and Mexico. The company prides itself on maintaining a modern, well-serviced fleet and advertises special rates for workers.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey informed ABC News that all the fatalities were Mexican nationals, underscoring the international impact of the crash. The investigation continues as authorities and first responders work to determine further details and provide assistance to those affected.
