Ashley Hamilton, an actor previously married to Shannen Doherty, was arrested for allegedly threatening a hotel employee with a knife. According to police reports, the incident occurred early in the morning on August 24 at a luxury hotel in Beverly Hills. A hotel staffer claimed that Hamilton pulled out a knife and adopted an aggressive posture during a confrontation.
The conflict began when Hamilton, found sleeping on a lobby couch, was awakened by the employee and informed that he could not sleep there. The situation quickly escalated after Hamilton allegedly started to argue, prompting the employee to flee and call 911. When officers arrived, they detained Hamilton and recovered the pocketknife reportedly involved in the incident.
Hamilton was arrested on charges of misdemeanor brandishing. He was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation to determine if he was under the influence of any substances. After being medically cleared, Hamilton was cited and released.
In his statement to TMZ, Hamilton explained that he was startled by the employee, leading to the knife incident, although he claims to have little memory of it. He disclosed that at the hospital, he admitted to consuming several pills, including oxycodone, which he states were prescribed for pain management related to his cancer treatment.
Hamilton, son of actor George Hamilton, shared that he is currently battling squamous cell skin cancer, for which he has undergone surgeries and treatments. Despite the arrest, Hamilton emphasized that he did not intend any harm towards the hotel employee.
Law enforcement officials have forwarded the case to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office to consider possible charges.
