INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark shattered a WNBA record by hitting her 100th 3-pointer of the season faster than any player in league history, contributing 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists to secure her second career triple-double as the Indiana Fever triumphed over the Los Angeles Sparks 93-86 on Wednesday night.
Clark nailed her landmark 100th three-pointer during the third quarter and went on to add two more, finishing the game 4 for 10 from beyond the arc. She is the first rookie to achieve this milestone in the league.
Additionally, Clark set another record by becoming the first rookie and only the fifth WNBA player to log multiple triple-doubles in a single season, placing her alongside noted players such as Alyssa Thomas, Courtney Williams, Sabrina Ionescu, and Candace Parker.
The victory also highlighted Aliyah Boston’s impressive performance for the Fever with 24 points and 14 rebounds, boosting their record to 18-16. This win marked Indiana’s fifth consecutive victory — a first since 2015 — and improved their home record to 10-1 since the beginning of June.
During the final moments, Clark secured the win with two free throws and clinched her triple-double by snagging the rebound off a missed three-pointer from the Sparks’ Kia Nurse.
Reflecting on her awareness of the looming triple-double in a post-game interview, Clark emphasized the team’s focus was primarily on defense.
In the game’s concluding seconds, Clark’s defensive prowess was on display as she intercepted a pass and assisted Boston for a layup, pushing the Fever ahead 91-84.
For the Fever, Kelsey Mitchell posted 18 points, slightly missing out on what would have been her eighth consecutive game with at least 20 points. NaLyssa Smith added 13 points to the scoreboard.
Leading the Sparks, who fell to a dismal 7-26 record, was Odyssey Sims with 20 points. Teammates Dearica Hamby and Rae Burrell each contributed 16 points, while Azura Stevens notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The loss added to the Sparks’ struggles on the road, where they have now dropped 15 of their last 17 games.
