Senator JD Vance Claims John McCain Wouldn’t Have Backed VP Harris

At a rally in Phoenix on Thursday night, Senator JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, expressed his certainty that the late Arizona Senator John McCain would not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, despite never having met McCain.

“John McCain and Donald Trump had many disagreements, but I firmly believe that if McCain were alive today, witnessing the current situation at the American Southern border, he would not support Kamala Harris or the damage she has caused,” Vance stated to the crowd.

The discussion on the McCains arose after a local reporter inquired about Vance’s thoughts on Jimmy McCain, John and Cindy McCain’s youngest son, declaring his support for Harris.

“Honestly, who cares what a candidate’s family thinks about a presidential race,” Vance remarked. “I care about the opinions and concerns of the people here.”

Additionally, Vance mentioned Trump’s past comment about McCain from 2015, where Trump said, “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured,” suggesting that despite such remarks, Trump and McCain could have worked together.

“One thing I admire about Donald Trump—and I believe I would have admired about John McCain, though I never met him—is that they didn’t let personal grievances prevent them from serving the country,” Vance commented.

Vance’s remarks follow Jimmy McCain’s statement endorsing Harris and recent comments from former Rep. Liz Cheney, who also indicated she would vote for the Vice President.
