A man in Australia is the subject of an international manhunt after he allegedly poured boiling liquid over a 9-month-old baby boy, according to police reports.

The incident took place on August 27 in Brisbane’s Hanlon Park, located in the Stones Corner area, when a man, unknown to the family, approached them and poured the hot liquid on the baby before fleeing the scene, as stated by the Queensland Police.

Emergency responders rushed the seriously injured infant to the hospital for severe burns treatment. Fortunately, the baby has since been discharged.

Police launched an extensive investigation, releasing CCTV footage of the suspect fleeing shortly after the attack. The man is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, with a proportionate build, tanned skin, wearing a black hat, glasses, a shirt, and shorts.

Detectives from the Morningside Child Protection Investigation Unit revealed on Monday that they have identified the suspect as a 33-year-old foreign national.

The man has since left the country, and Queensland Police are collaborating with both national and international agencies to continue the investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the man or has pertinent information to contact Queensland Police.

Further details about the incident remain sparse as the investigation is ongoing.
