In a recent statement, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who also identifies as a fan of Taylor Swift and refers to himself as the “king of the Swifties,” stated on Wednesday that even though Swift has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, it doesn’t alter his view of the popstar. However, he mentioned that he plans to cast his vote for a different candidate.
Portnoy took to X to express his thoughts, saying, “As the king of the Swifties, people are asking me what I think of her Kamala endorsement. I don’t care at all.
People can vote for whoever they want in this country. How somebody votes will never change my opinion of a person.
I’m voting the other way but to each their own.”
Swift announced her endorsement of Harris minutes after Harris finished her stage appearance at the presidential debate against Republican candidate Donald Trump. On Instagram, Swift explained her support, saying she will vote for Harris because, “she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
MSNBC host raved about Swift’s endorsement, calling it “absolutely exquisite.”
Portnoy tweeted on September 11, 2024, reiterating his stance on voters’ freedom to choose and stating, “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.
I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: Remember that to vote, you have to be registered!” She also advised her 283 million followers to vote early and provided links for registration and early voting information.
In a related note, Elon Musk made a playful comment following Swift’s endorsement of Harris, saying, “I will give you a child and guard your cats.”
Meanwhile, Portnoy revealed earlier this week on Fox Business that he plans to vote for Trump. Host Stewart Varney suggested that Portnoy seems like a “Trump guy,” to which Portnoy responded, “Yeah, I’m voting for Trump.
I don’t know that I would call myself a Trump guy. If I thought there was a candidate that was better I would be open to having that.
I wouldn’t have voted for him in the Republican primaries, but I’m voting for him now.”
Trump, during a call to “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday morning, was indifferent about Swift’s endorsement of Harris, saying he was not surprised by her support and that it was only a matter of time. He added, “She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden.
You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him.” Referring to Swift, Trump mentioned he’s “not a Taylor Swift fan” but described her as “a very liberal person” who “always endorses a Democrat” and might “pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
