Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for President on Tuesday drove approximately 337,826 users to visit the voting website vote.gov, highlighting the potential influence her public support could have on the upcoming November election.

Vote.gov is managed by the General Services Administration (GSA) in collaboration with the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. The site provides information on voter registration and directs users to state-specific sites for registration.

After the presidential debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump, Swift took to Instagram to announce her support for Harris and Gov. Tim Walz, her Democratic running mate.

She encouraged her followers to do their research and participate in the election. In her post, she emphasized the importance of registering to vote and suggested voting early, providing a custom link to vote.gov in her Instagram story.

According to a GSA spokesperson, by 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, 337,826 users had visited vote.gov through Swift’s link. However, the spokesperson clarified that new voters ultimately need to register through their state-specific websites.

Harris’ campaign quickly welcomed Swift’s endorsement, capitalizing on it by selling Harris-Walz friendship bracelets, resembling those worn by millions of Swift’s fans during her Eras Tour. These bracelets sold out by Wednesday.

Swift, originally from Pennsylvania, first voiced her political stance in 2018 by endorsing Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen for Senate in Tennessee. At that time, she noted that several events had changed her previously reluctant approach to sharing political opinions. Despite her support, Bredesen lost to Republican Marsha Blackburn.

In her endorsement of Harris, Swift commended the Vice President as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and a “warrior” for crucial causes. She signed her post, humorously referring to herself as a “Childless Cat Lady,” responding to previous comments by Sen. JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, who had criticized women in leadership without children.

On Fox News, Vance downplayed the impact of Swift’s endorsement, suggesting that Americans, regardless of their admiration for her music, are unlikely to be swayed by a wealthy celebrity whom he believes is disconnected from the everyday concerns of most people.
