Alabama Defeats Wisconsin in First Madison Game in 100 Years

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe put on a stellar performance Saturday, leading the Crimson Tide to a rare regular-season victory north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Milroe tallied three passing touchdowns and added two rushing scores, amassing 75 yards on the ground to power Alabama to a commanding 42-10 win over the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium.

“I’m just very blessed every time I step on the field, very passionate about football,” Milroe said. “It’s all about fun and making explosive plays, remembering why I play the game.”

Wisconsin’s quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, had to leave the game early due to a knee injury sustained during a scramble. He was seen holding his right knee and had to be taken to the locker room in a cart. Van Dyke watched the second half from the sideline on crutches.

Backup quarterback Braedyn Locke stepped in for Van Dyke, throwing for 125 yards and a 3-yard touchdown pass to Will Pauling.

This matchup marked Alabama’s first visit to Madison since their 15-0 loss to Wisconsin in 1928, and it turned into Wisconsin’s most one-sided home defeat since a 48-7 loss to Penn State in 2008.

Alabama running back Jam Miller, who scored on a 34-yard run, praised the offensive line for their key role in the win. “That group was amazing today, moving defenders and creating holes for us,” Miller said. “They made a big difference.”

Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell acknowledged the painful blowout. “I told the team what I’m telling you now: if you’ve never experienced a whooping, you just did,” Fickell said.

“It hurts and it’s not easy, but in this sport, it happens. It doesn’t mean we didn’t work hard or prepare; it means we didn’t get the job done.”
