Taylor Swift Celebrates Chiefs’ Last-Second Victory Over Bengals

Taylor Swift just can’t contain her excitement when the Kansas City Chiefs clinch a win.

The 34-year-old singer was seen enthusiastically jumping up and down after Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker landed a game-winning field goal on Sunday, September 15. This crucial moment gave Kansas City a narrow 26-25 victory over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

From her suite at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, Swift was broadcasted on CBS hugging fellow Chiefs fans as her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his team celebrated improving their record to 2-0.

Notably, Butker made headlines this offseason due to a controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College. During his address, he urged women to embrace the role of “homemaker” and criticized Pride Month, describing it as a “deadly sin.”

During the same speech in May, Butker, 29, directly referenced Swift and her relationship with Kelce, also 34. “As my teammate’s girlfriend says, ‘familiarity breeds contempt,'” Butker quoted, citing a lyric from Swift’s song “Bejeweled” from her 2022 album *Midnights*.

Butker went on to commend the women graduates for their accomplishments but suggested that many would find their primary fulfillment in marriage and motherhood.

Swift has not publicly responded to Butker’s remarks, and he recently signed a four-year, $26.5 million contract extension with Kansas City, making him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.

Travis Kelce addressed Butker’s comments during an episode of his podcast “New Heights” shortly after the speech generated buzz. “I cherish him as a teammate,” Kelce said in conversation with his brother Jason Kelce.

“When it comes down to his views and what he said at the commencement speech, you know, those are his. I can’t say I agree with the majority of it — or just about any of it — outside of just him loving his family or his kids.

I don’t think I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views of how he goes about life.”

Earlier in Sunday’s game, Swift was caught on camera reacting animatedly when Kelce fell a yard short of a touchdown in the third quarter. “Oh my God, Travis!” Swift exclaimed.

CBS play-by-play analyst Jim Nantz had a lighthearted take on Swift’s reaction. “Someone wanted a touchdown! Someone wanted to see six after she got seven Wednesday night at the VMAs!,” Nantz remarked, referring to Swift’s collection of seven MTV Video Music Awards on September 11.

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to hit the road on Sunday, September 22, to face off against the Atlanta Falcons.
