A 6-year-old student brought a loaded gun to Orange Elementary School in Virginia. The gun was discovered by a staff member and taken by school officials.
No one was injured or threatened, and the student is being investigated. The school was placed in a secure mode, and extra law enforcement will be present for the next two days.
Superintendent Dan Hornick commended the school staff for their quick response, but apologized for not promptly notifying parents and guardians. He asked parents to be more vigilant in ensuring their children don’t bring weapons to school.
