Tragic Titan Submersible Disaster
In June 2023, OceanGate’s Titan submersible tragically imploded during an expedition to explore the Titanic wreckage. The vessel’s five passengers, including billionaires Shahzada and Suleman Dawood, perished instantly.
The Descent and Implosion
The Titan began its descent off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. Ninety minutes later, contact with the submersible was lost. After a four-day search, wreckage believed to be from the Titan was discovered near the Titanic.
Investigations revealed that the Titan’s pressure hull had imploded under the immense water pressure, causing the vessel’s occupants to die immediately.
Final Message and Testimony
In September 2024, the Titan’s last message was released. It simply read "All good here." Additionally, a former OceanGate contractor testified that there were no known safety concerns with the submersible prior to the incident.
