Woman Jailed in Graceland Auction Scheme

Additional Coverage:

Lisa Findley, accused of attempting to sell Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate illegally, has opted to remain in custody.

Findley appeared in Memphis court but waived her right to a detention hearing. She understands that this means she will be held until her case is resolved.

Prosecutors claim Findley forged signatures and created a fake company in an attempt to extort money from the Presley family. She allegedly claimed Lisa Marie Presley owed a loan and used Graceland as collateral.

An injunction was issued to prevent an auction of Graceland. Notary Kimberly Philbrick testified that her signature was forged and she never met Lisa Marie.

Findley’s attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf. Federal prosecutors accuse her of a "brazen scheme" to try to "extort a settlement from the Presley family."
