Menendez Brother’s Wife Slams Netflix Series

Additional Coverage:

Erik Menendez, who was convicted of murdering his parents in 1989, has condemned Netflix’s new series "Monsters" as "awful lies." His wife, Tammi Menendez, shared a statement on his behalf, criticizing the show’s portrayal of the brothers and the sexual abuse allegations they made.

The statement accuses the show of creating a "dishonest" and "horrible" narrative that undermines the progress made in recognizing childhood trauma. It also claims that the show’s depiction of an intimate relationship between the brothers is inaccurate.

Erik Menendez, now 53, and his brother Lyle, 56, were found guilty of killing their parents in 1996. They alleged sexual abuse by their father in their first trial, but these claims were deemed inadmissible in the second trial.

The show "Monsters" has also faced criticism from viewers for scenes that suggest the brothers had a romantic relationship. Ryan Murphy, the creator of the series, has not publicly addressed these concerns.
