Harris Vows Support For Ending Filibuster To Codify Abortion Rights

Additional Coverage:

Vice President Kamala Harris supports eliminating the filibuster to restore federal protections for abortion rights under Roe v. Wade.

Harris believes that the Senate should require only a simple majority of 51 votes to pass laws protecting reproductive freedom. She argues that individuals should have the right to make decisions about their own bodies without government interference.

Harris’s stance on abortion aims to contrast herself with former President Donald Trump, who appointed three Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

In addition to abortion, Harris discussed housing and toxic chemicals known as PFAs. She plans to provide $25,000 in down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers and work with the private sector to build 3 million new homes.

Harris also supports stricter regulations on PFAs, which are contaminating drinking water in Wisconsin. The Biden administration is funding water infrastructure projects to clean up drinking water and replace lead pipes, including $2 billion for Wisconsin.
