Diddy Moved to Same Jail Section as Bankman-Fried

Additional Coverage:

Music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has been placed in the same unit as convicted cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried at a New York City jail. The special section of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn is reserved for inmates needing protection.

Combs, arrested last week, faces charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering. Bankman-Fried, known as SBF, is serving a 25-year sentence for stealing billions of dollars from customers and investors.

The unit, described as barracks-style, houses 18-20 inmates, including high-profile defendants and cooperating witnesses. It offers general population conditions with enhanced security.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons cites privacy and safety concerns for not releasing details about inmates’ confinement, including housing assignments.

Despite his conviction and sentencing, SBF remains at MDC due to the court’s recommendation for access to legal counsel.

Combs has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial. The jail, located in eastern Brooklyn, holds over 1,600 inmates.
