Housekeeper Challenges Richard Simmons’ Estate Plans
Teresa Reveles Muro, Richard Simmons’ longtime housekeeper, has filed a petition to become a co-trustee of his estate. She claims Simmons’ brother, Leonard, pressured her to decline the role while she was grieving his death.
According to Muro, Leonard and his wife took her to sign a document waiving her co-trustee status just days after Simmons’ body was found. Muro alleges she was vulnerable and did not fully understand the implications of what she was signing.
Muro consulted an attorney and now seeks to have her declination revoked and be appointed as co-trustee alongside Leonard. She argues that she is best suited to carry out Simmons’ wishes, as she has a deep understanding of his life and financial affairs.
Muro’s attorneys have contacted the law firm handling the estate but have not received a satisfactory explanation for why Leonard refuses to allow her to serve as co-trustee. Muro is also requesting that the court prevent Leonard from selling off Simmons’ assets or exploiting his likeness until a ruling is made on her petition.
Simmons passed away in July from complications related to a fall and heart disease. Muro claims he refused medical assistance after falling in his bathroom the night before his death.
