John Deere Recalls Compact Tractors Due to Braking Hazard

Farm equipment manufacturer John Deere is recalling approximately 147,900 compact utility tractors in the United States. The recall affects John Deere 1023E, 1025R, and 2025R models produced between November 2017 and July 2024.

The tractors pose a crash hazard due to a potential failure in the front bell crank of the brake linkage. This failure can result in loss of braking capability, increasing the risk of accidents.

Customers with affected tractors are urged to cease operation immediately and contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a free repair. If necessary, the dealer will arrange for repairs at the customer’s residence.

John Deere has reported four incidents of brake linkage failure in the US, leading to one hospitalization, two impact injuries, and minor damage to the tractors.

The recall also affects 16,800 compact utility tractors sold in Canada. John Deere emphasizes the importance of customer safety and is cooperating fully with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on this matter.
