Yankees Clinch AL East Title with 10-1 Win

Aaron Judge hit his 58th home run, tying his career best with five consecutive games going deep, as the New York Yankees secured their second AL East title in three years with a 10-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Giancarlo Stanton also had a productive night, with four RBIs including a 27th home run. Alex Verdugo also homered for the Yankees.

Gerrit Cole outpitched Corbin Burnes, who is expected to start for the Orioles in the Wild Card Series. Cole allowed only two hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking one.

Yankees Dominate Offensively

Stanton’s home run in the second inning gave the Yankees an early lead, and his three-run double in the sixth extended it to 5-1. Judge’s two-run homer in the seventh increased the lead to 7-1.

Anthony Rizzo added a two-run single, and Austin Wells drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in another run.

Orioles Clinch Playoff Spot

Despite the loss, the Orioles clinched a postseason berth with their win in Tuesday’s series opener. They will face the winner of the Wild Card Game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners.

Upcoming Matchups

The Orioles will open their playoff series on Tuesday, likely with Burnes on the mound. The Yankees will have a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the AL Division Series, which begins on October 5th.
