Grandmother Moves In To Help With Triplets

Additional Coverage:

Attorney Stephanie Ross and her husband, Andrew, welcomed triplets in 2021. Unable to afford the high cost of childcare, they relied on Ross’s 64-year-old mother to move in and provide care.

Before her mother’s arrival, Ross struggled with exhaustion and sleep deprivation while caring for the infants alone. Daycare costs in their area were prohibitive, exceeding $2,400 per month for three children.

After her mother sold her home and moved in, Ross and Andrew’s lives significantly improved. Their mother followed their parenting style and cared for the triplets, allowing the couple to get much-needed rest.

To provide more space for her mother, the family built a 550-square-foot apartment in their yard in 2023. Ross acknowledges the privilege of having her mother’s help and highlights the need for more government support for working parents facing childcare challenges.

Despite the initial adjustment, Ross and her husband are grateful for the bond their mother has developed with the triplets. They believe she is an invaluable and trusted member of their family.
